Sports Injury Therapy

Antony Daffurn BSc (Hons) MSST

I started off my path in Sports Therapy at the age of 20 by studying an HND in Sports Therapy at the Glasgow Nautical College (2008/10). Within this time I gained a lot of practical and theoretical knowledge which acted as a fantastic foundation going into University. I attended Teesside University for a further 2 years, achieving a BSc first class Honours degree in Sports Therapy (2010/12). On returning from University I started my own business (2012 to present) from home and began working as lead Therapist for a local rugby team (2012 to present) where I get to treat multiple injuries, take strength & conditioning sessions and give pitch side (first aid) assistance on game days. In August 2015 I began lecturing at the City of Glasgow college on a full time bases, teaching sports therapy back were I started. This offers me the ability to further my knowledge within this area of expertise, teach it to students and at the same time work hand in hand within my clinic, each offering experience to one another.
More recently (2016) I completed a Diploma at the well recognised Western School of Massage at Caledonian University.

Within my clinic I like to give each individual first class treatment, by applying all my knowledge, skills I have gained from my experience and continual studying. Moreover I have been working consistently with a growing group of athletes at different levels, offering regular check ups, sports and remedial massage, tips & advice on nutrition, functional movement training (Qualified Level 1) and even help with strength training (Qualified, level 1, by British Weightlifting Org.) which has seen improvements in performances up to international level. I use these methods myself as an athlete within my training and have set huge personal bests.

I have had a passion for sports my whole life. I was a member of youth football teams, badminton and athletics clubs. My main sport is athletics which I have been doing since the age of 8. I dabbled in most events until finding out I was more suited to the triple jump, winning the U15 Scottish Championships. Since then I have won multiple age group titles, youth and senior international representations, making it into the top 20 All Time list in Scotland. In the last few years I won the Irish and Scottish Senior Championships setting personal bests all season, remaining unbeaten within other UK competitions. I also have ambitions to compete in the next Commonwealth Games in Australia and break the Scottish Record. However this has not all been plain sailing as I suffered injuries myself resulting in operations and physical therapy. This drove me to find out more about injuries, resulting in me getting involved in Sports Therapy and I have never looked back
